Masters Fantasy Baseball Leagues - FAQ

Why use us?

The most important reason to use Mastersfantasybaseballleagues.com is because we have some of the highest payouts in the industry. In addition, our website is simple to use. We have designed our leagues to be as Fantasy Baseball friendly as possible with you, the baseball fan, in mind. Though we want everyone who visits our website to join one of our leagues, we realize this is impossible so please check out any of our competitors; you will find that most of them payout only 50% of the entry fees or even less.

Is fantasy baseball legal in the US?

Absolutely!

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, which was an amendment to the larger and unrelated Safe Port Act, included "carve out" language that clarified the legality of fantasy sports. It was signed into law on October 13, 2006 by President George W. Bush. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act makes transactions from banks or similar institutions to online gambling sites illegal, with the notable exceptions of fantasy sports, online lotteries and horse/harness racing.

The bill specifically exempts fantasy sports games, educational games, or any online contest that "has an outcome that reflects the relative knowledge of the participants, or their skill at physical reaction or physical manipulation (but not chance), and, in the case of a fantasy or simulation sports game, has an outcome that is determined predominantly by accumulated statistical results of sporting events, including any non-participant's individual performances in such sporting events.

How do I pay?

You can pay with a money order or check. If for whatever reason you prefer a check that is fine. Please sign up for the league of your choice and follow the instructions on where to mail the check, however, you will not be placed in a league until the check clears.

Do I need internet access to play Masters Fantasy Baseball?

Yes. Or you need to be able sneak into your neighbor’s home on a regular basis and use his computer.

What is the $9.95 commissioner’s fee for?

We have certain fixed costs for all of our leagues. These include, but are not limited to: bandwidth, advertising, stamps, electricity, set up time, the server, websites, etc. The fixed costs are identical whether you sign up for a $30.00 league or a $535.00 league. This is why each league has an identical commissioner fee.

We have additional costs for a Live Draft Leagues making the commissioner fee for Live Draft Leagues $14.90.

When you go to checkout, $9.95 will be added to your checkout total for Early & E-mail Drafts. $14.90 will be added to your checkout total for Live Drafts.

Unlike most leagues that payout 60% - we do not want to take away from the payouts. Take a look at this simple comparison:

Other Leagues
50% Payout League - $500 Entry Fee
League Champ gets $2,500 Runner Up gets $500

Masters Fantasy Baseball
Payout - $535 Gold League
League Champ gets $3,900 Runner Up gets $1,500

Why is the live draft commissioner fee higher than the email or early email draft fee?

We have more time and more expense associated with the live draft which includes having live personnel monitoring every live draft to address any issues that may occur during the draft.

Why is your payout so much higher than other leagues?

I do not know why other leagues pay out so little, often times 50% of paid entry fees. We pay out as much as we do because we think that is why most of us play fantasy baseball.

What happens if I miss my live draft?

The computer will draft for you. We have an artificial intelligence that drafts the best available player for your team. You can pre-rank your players and the website will pick your highest ranked players before using the artificial intelligence..

I want to join an email draft. How do I know it will finish before the season starts?

Email drafts are our favorite drafts. We love them because they give us something to look forward to at work. We have never had nor participated in an email draft that did not finish in the allotted time. Most drafts finish in 5 days. The league web site allows you to pre-rank players. What you have to remember is that while, yes, you are anticipating your next pick and wish everyone else would hurry up, everyone else is also anticipating their next pick and hope you hurry up. The timer is initially set for 8 hours for the first 2 days and will be moved up to 5 hours thereafter and moved up further if necessary.

Can I refer friends to be in my league?

Yes, simply choose to sign up for whatever league you want and when you get to the sign-up page there is a prompt to put in the email addresses for whomever you want. There is also a prompt to put in who referred you so that we have two ways to cross reference who wants to be in the same league. If for whatever reason we miss it, just send us a message through the “Contact Us” feature on the home page and we will fix it.

Are all the leagues 12 teams?

Every attempt will be made to run with 12 team leagues. In some instances we may have to run with 11 or 10 teams. If we run a draft with less than 10 teams, we will still make the full 10-team payouts.

What if my league doesn’t fill?

You are refunded 100% of your money.

Why do you only pay first and second?

We do not believe in paying out for average effort.

When do you pay the winners?

All payouts will be made by the end of October. Since 2008 ALL checks were mailed within two weeks of the season ending.

Do you withhold taxes?

No. You are responsible for your own taxes.

I have more questions. Can I call you?

No. Please use the contact page to ask us a question. We do not have the ability to take 1,000 phone calls a day. We will respond within 24 hours, usually with in the hour.
